@Front/Space Gallery: Really, Apparently; a two person exhibition and collaboration between Kylie McConnell and Bobby Haulotte, rooted in the sharing of reference materials.

Playfulness is the common thread throughout this collaboration. The role of play happens both in the creation of the work itself and in the viewer’s interaction with the work. Color, pattern, and compression of space promote the act of looking as an engaged and playful experience. Through varying levels of illusion, sincerity, and artificiality, the work stimulates playful relationships.

During the length of the exhibition, guests are encouraged to touch and rearrange a fluctuating still life. The still life is a place for response, reorganization, and play. Objects within the still life act as a physical alternative for our digitally shared reference material. This accumulation of objects is representative of curiosities and attachments that we might develop with everyday objects encountered in our daily lives. There is no set of rules or end goal for the nature of this play. Instead, there is an emphasis on exploration and discovery.
